Your Waterloo Martial Arts Training Academy
D’Souza Martial Arts Academy is owned by Ms. Charlotte D’Souza who is the primary instructor at the club. Ms. Charlotte is a 5th degree black belt and has been teaching Taekwondo to both kids and adults for more than 25 years.
Ms. Charlotte’s passion for the martial arts began when her middle child of 3 was getting bullied in school. At that time, the school did not have a policy against bullying and was not able to help stop the abuse her son was experiencing. She enrolled him in Taekwondo classes and soon became witness to his blossoming confidence. Her son learned how to better manage the difficult relationships at his school and his grades began to improve.
Impressed by the impact the sport had on her middle child, Ms. Charlotte enrolled her two other kids and herself in Taekwondo classes as well. The benefits to herself and her kids were undeniable. Everyone’s fitness improved, confidence soared and other achievements increased. Given the positive transformation her son went through, Ms. Charlotte likes to think of herself as the “champion of the underdog” and will do whatever she can to help your child overcome their issues. Seeing kids’ confidence grow is her passion.
Ms. Charlotte lives with her family in the Waterloo region and also has a passion for cooking. She loves to experiment in the kitchen. Her kids love it because they get to enjoy eating her creations but their biggest frustration is that that their Mom can never remember how she created their most loved meals.
